FASHION STYLIST + CELEBRITY STYLIST + SHOW STYLIST + FASHION WRITING
As a top fashion stylist AND fashion director / editor on magazines including Tatler, Cosmopolitan and W Magazine, I have a prop kit full of experience. I am currently Editor of the ski/snowboard/mountain style magazine, Style Altitude and Fashion Director of the five star luxury magazine, Epicurean Life. I also work freelance throughout the industry as fashion stylist, art director, creating catwalk shows, fashion writer, consulting on design and dressing celebrities.
I always say that I like a challenge - and will go to (almost) any lengths to achieve a fabulous fashion image (up mountains, across deserts, on elephants, over egos). For recent fashion shoots, I have strapped presenter Charlie Webster into a helicopter wearing couture, choregraphed a ballerina in ballgowns in the ballroom of the Dorchester Hotel and shot glamorous gowns in the West Sussex countryside with top dressage thoroughbreds (for the record, they were highly strung and high maintainance and that was just the crew).
When we prepared for the Fashion Olympics we threw caution - and the discus - to the wind and dressed models to win the Chic-athlon in couture gowns and Olympic accesories for July issues of the Runwild Media Group magazines including Vantage, Kensington & Chelsea and Mayfair. Then we let the glamour begin.
As Fashion Director of the ultra-glamorous magazine, Epicurean Life, I regularly shoot five star fashion for a stellar lifestyle. We might feature designer looks from the Paris, London and New York runways but, once, we were actually on the runway to shoot our breathtaking fashion story, Frocks Away.
Working for Hello, I have styled the rich, famous and fabulous - some with walk-in wardrobes I could happily live in. True style, though, has nothing to do with the size of your wardrobe or wallet. Or your age. Some of the celebrities I have styled have Manolos older than young catwalk models, but they look sensational - I include Christie Brinkley, Zaha Hadid, Kelly Hoppen, Jo Wood and Jerry Hall among those who can rock a frock at any age.
It's a mad mode world but as a top fashion stylist I have been fortunate to work with some of the most talented, creative and respected players - designers, photographers, editors, directors, models - and believe the secret of success is combining experience with inherent style, fashion knowledge, trend foresight and an empathy with people.
The best thing about fashion is that it never stays the same; life is never boring and it is an amazing way to make a living. It also frequently brings new challenges. One of the most epic shoots of my career was styling the main cast of Coronation Street, past and present spanning five decades for their 50th Anniversary featured in Hello magazine. Somehow, I now feel that I have Street Cred...
And for really high fashion as in vertical metres up mountains I edit the online magazine Style Altitude, created by riders for riders. It combines my love of skiing, snowboarding and high octane sports with my style editing background. Check out our Snow Tribes and discover whether you are a Techie, Gnarly, Glossy or, even a Fashionskista...
High Voltage Fashion
I had the vertiginous job of styling glamorous frocks high up over the lights of London in Va Va Voom With A View. Such is life as "high" fashion stylist for Epicurean Life. Photos: Darren Paul.
Jo Wood is the definition of rock chic - glamorous, cool, urban - very of the moment for fashion styling. For Hello she wore vintage, cashmere and Juliet Dunn (pictured). Photos: Trevor Leighton
Up With The Joneses
It was a crazy fashion stylist's day with Dragons Den Peter Jones, Tara and kids for Hello. Money can't buy such a beautiful family but it does get you a lake by the house. Photos:Trevor Leighton
May Fair Lady
I was the Hello celebrity stylist for Oksana Grigorieva at the May Fair Hotel after her split from Mel Gibson. She was a dream celebrity to style: beautiful and graceful. Photos by Sven Arnstein.
My debut on the West End stage came while styling Christie Brinkley in glamorous gowns for Hello. We shot the amazing Uptown Girl, at London's Cambridge Theatre. Photos: John Swannell.
Menswear with a Twist
It was a high energy menswear shoot for Smart Turnout styling their contemporary classic looks with a cool twist. Shot by the dynamic, Alwyn Coates - www.alwynphoto.com.
